Erol R. Akdamar

Erol R. Akdamar is president of the American Group of Nashville, Tennessee-based HCA Healthcare, one of the nation’s leading providers of health care services. He is responsible for 66 of HCA Healthcare’s hospital operations and 77,000 colleagues in Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, and Texas. 

Prior to his current role, Akdamar served as president for Medical City Healthcare, HCA Healthcare’s North Texas Division, from 2013 to 2022. Akdamar began his career with HCA Healthcare as an administrative resident in 1993, holding progressive leadership roles at facilities in Louisiana, Georgia and Texas, earning a reputation for strong leadership and growth initiatives. His mantra of “excellence always,” has resulted in exceptional employee engagement, outstanding quality, and earnings performance. 

Akdamar is a graduate of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, and he earned a Master of Health Administration from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in New Orleans. Akdamar is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and has served on a number of national and state-level governing boards, including as chair of the board of trustees for the Texas Hospital Association. Because of his courageous leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, Akdamar was honored by the Dallas Business Journal as one of DFW’s Most Inspiring Leaders of 2021.
