Charles W. Lamar III
Charles W. Lamar III is chairman of Woodlawn Investments, Inc. and former general
counsel and board member at Lamar Advertising Company. He founded the Charles Lamar
Family Foundation in 2000 and is a board member of several nonprofit organizations,
including the Lamar-Dixon Expo Foundation, Pennington Biomedical Research Foundation,
Baton Rouge Area Foundation, LSU Manship School of Mass Communications Board of Visitors,
and the LSU Rural Life Museum Board of Trustees.
Through financial contributions, he has helped establish or expand facilities and
programs at many nonprofit organizations, including Louisiana State University and
the Institute for Dementia Research and Prevention at Pennington Biomedical Research
Center. Through the Charles Lamar Family Foundation, Lamar and his family have a permanent
vehicle to provide financial support to organizations striving to make a difference.
The major focus areas of the Lamar Family Foundation are pre-k education, companion
animal welfare, and water resources.
