Robert M. Stuart Jr.

Robert M. Stuart Jr. was named president and CEO of the LSU Foundation in January 2020. A native of Baton Rouge, he is former national head of middle market corporate banking at Capital One, for which he led regional and national teams in middle market banking and teams in energy banking, government banking, and wealth and asset management. 

Stuart’s extensive volunteer experience with LSU includes service as past chair of the LSU Foundation Board of Directors; as first chair of the LSU Foundation National Board; as chairman of the LSU Real Estate and Facilities Foundation, an affiliate of the LSU Foundation; and six years on the Tiger Athletic Foundation Board of Directors.  

As chair of the University Lakes Project Management Committee, Stuart led REFF’s involvement in beginning the collaborative effort to restore the six lakes bordering LSU’s campus. Through REFF, Stuart has been actively involved in supporting the ongoing impact of the Nicholson Gateway Project, which created a thriving mixed-use community in a previously under-developed area of campus and several new and renovated residence halls throughout campus. Stuart now serves as president and CEO of REFF. He is also an officer of the LSU Research & Technology Foundation Board, which facilitates the transfer and commercialization of university intellectual property to the marketplace for the benefit of LSU. 

Stuart has served as chair of the board of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber and Woman’s Hospital and has been a board member for many other organizations, including the Council For A Better Louisiana, Public Affairs Research Council, Blueprint Louisiana, and The Committee of 100. 

He holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in finance from LSU and completed the General Manager Program at Harvard Business School.
