Art E. Favre
Art E. Favre has served as the founder and owner of Performance Contractors, Inc., a general industrial services company specializing in construction, maintenance, modular and pipe fabrication capabilities. The firm is headquartered in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with branch offices in Lake Charles, Louisiana; Houston, Texas; Mobile, Alabama; Corpus Christi, Texas; Evansville, Indiana; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Pascagoula, Mississippi. Primary business sectors include refineries, petrochemicals, chemicals, power, automotive manufacturing, steel, fertilizer, and pulp and paper. Performance Contractors, Inc. was named 2023 ABC National Contractor of the Year.
An additional entrepreneurial venture of Favre is The Wharf family entertainment complex in Orange Beach, Alabama.
Favre, a native of Gulfport, Mississippi, is a graduate of Louisiana State University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in construction in 1972. Favre is a member of the LSU Alumni Association, the LSU Foundation, the LSU College of Engineering Dean Advisory Council, and TAF. He is active in numerous professional and civic organizations, including the Associated Builders and Contractors Inc. Industrial Contractors Council; the Louisiana Chemical Industry Alliance; the Louisiana Construction Education Foundation, where he is a founding board member and past president; the LSU Construction Industry Advisory Council; the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center board; the New Orleans Branch of the Atlanta Federal Reserve Bank, where he is a past board chair and member; the Pennington Biomedical Research Center Foundation, where he serves on the board and executive committee; the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI), where he is a past chair and current board and executive committee member; and the Construction Education Trust Fund board.
In prior years, Favre has also served on the Louisiana Workforce Investment Council; the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors; the City Club of Baton Rouge, where he was past president and a member of the Board of Governors; the board of Blueprint Louisiana; and the American Association of Cost Engineers.
Honors he has received include the 2019 LABI Ed Steimel Achievement Award; induction into the LSU College of Engineering Hall of Distinction and the LSU Alumni Association Hall of Distinction; 2018 LSU Alumnus of the Year; LSU Greek Excellence Award; two-time recipient of the ABC Pelican Chapter Merit Shop Man of the Year Award; induction into the LSU Construction Management Hall of Fame; recognition as a Distinguished Patron by the LSU Department of Construction Management; and the 2012 Business Person of the Year award by Junior Achievement and the Baton Rouge Business Awards and Hall of Fame. He is also the recipient of the 2019 Outstanding Philanthropist Award.
When not working, Favre enjoys offshore sport fishing and tournament competition.
