In Honor of Dr. Glenn E. Sumners
A pioneer in internal audit education, Dr. Glenn E. Sumners, DBA, CIA, CFE, CRMA,
is retiring as director of the LSU Center for Internal Auditing & Cybersecurity Risk
Management (LSUCIA&CRM).
Sumners charted new territory when he established LSU's internal audit program in 1985. Under his leadership, LSUCIA&CRM has become an internationally recognized model of excellence. Over 4,100 students have completed the program, with most going on to launch successful careers and quickly advancing to top levels of organizational management.
His numerous accolades include the IIA Educator of the Year Award, the LSU Rainmaker Award, and induction into the IIA American Hall of Distinguished Audit Practitioners. The IIA's Dr. Glenn E. Sumners Award, presented to the student with the highest CIA exam score, honors his lasting impact on the profession.
Sumners' legacy of excellence, mentorship, and global influence will continue to shape the future of internal auditing.
After more than four decades of service to the LSU Center for Internal Auditing & Cybersecurity Risk Management (LSUCIA&CRM), Dr. Glenn Sumners is retiring. As the founding director, he charted new territory, elevating the program to an internationally recognized model for audit education. Jared Soileau, associate professor in the LSU Department of Accounting, will continue the program's tradition of excellence as he takes on the director role in the new year.
