What is your proudest accomplishment at LSU so far, and what goals do you have for
the remainder of your time at LSU?
Being at LSU for a short time so far, my options have been limited. That being said, I have already managed to catch and document over 13 fish species on the campus. My main goals are straightforward. First, I want to learn as much as possible about fish, their environment, monitoring, and fisheries protection. Next, I want to prepare for a future career in research, conservation, or policy, or ideally, all of that combined. I also want to focus on researching fish populations and strategies for supporting sustainable fisheries. I want to learn field research methods, scientific diving, and improve my documentation skills.
What does receiving the Stamps Scholarship mean to you and your family?
The Stamps Scholarship gives me the opportunity to study a unique major at a university distant from my home without financial burdens. This allows me to completely focus on my studies, research, and professional development. I would not have been able to do that without receiving this scholarship. I am truly honored by this opportunity.
How has your enrollment in the Honors College enhanced your LSU experience?
Being in the Ogden Honors College has given me a chance to broaden my collegiate experience at LSU. Without it, I would probably take mostly science classes; however, I am being exposed to other fields that I enjoy thanks to the Honors College. The small classes allow discussions and close interaction with the teacher and other students. The Honors College also offers a lot of support to find a good research mentorship, study abroad programs, and other opportunities. Priority registration for honors students is also excellent.
What would you say to the donors of LSU, specifically the Stamps Scholarship Program?
Thank you so much for your generous scholarship and the fantastic possibilities offered to me through it. I cannot express my gratitude enough, and I would like you to know that your support, both financially and through the community of scholars, will allow me to achieve my goals. Thanks to your support, I can fully concentrate on studying my dream major at an out-of-state university and have additional options to enrich my education and follow my passion. I hope that I will be able at least partially give back what has been invested into me in the future. Thank you for giving me this opportunity of a lifetime.
